TSTN tutors are highly qualified. Some have several university degrees while many have won numerous academic awards and have also been recognized for their achievements outside of the classroom. Please note that not all of our tutors are listed here as tutors are not obligated to provide profiles. Rosanna Calla
Rosanna is a native speaker of Italian. She lived
and went to school in Torino, Italy. She studied at
the University of Toronto and received an HBA in
Italian, Spanish and French Translations, an Italian
Masters and a B.Ed Junior/Intermediate/Senior
Qualification in International Languages. She is
also an Italian/Spanish/French translator and
interpreter. She enjoys finding creative ways to
teach International Languages and loves helping
others achieve their goals.
Julie Carette
Julie is a recent graduate of the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto, where she completed a Masters of Teaching degree. Julie is a certified Kindergarten to Grade 10 teacher through the Ontario College of Teachers, with specialties in French and English. Currently, Julie works for the Toronto District School Board as an elementary French Immersion teacher. Julie also holds qualifications in Special Education and English as a Second Language. Julie has been a tutor with The Student Tutoring Network (TSTN) since 2007 teaching children and adults of all ages.
Peter Grant
Peter is a certified teacher at the primary and junior level. He holds a Masters of Science in Childhood Education from Daemen College in New York and is certified by both the New York State Education Department and the Ontario College of Teachers. He received his Honours B.A. in Business & Society, with a specialization in Geography and Environmental Studies from York University. He completed his placements in both Grade 3 and Grade 4/5 classrooms, including coaching after-school basketball and cross-country teams. He is currently volunteering as a student teacher in a Grade 2/3 class where he continues to refine his teaching skills. He adapts his teaching to the wide range of skill sets, interests and knowledge that is present in every classroom, in order to ensure that all students have a successful classroom experience. Peter has been a volunteer and mentor with various community organizations for the past five years, including KidsNow. Peter’s interests include reading, playing and watching sports, traveling and staying healthy and active.
Judith Hajer
Judith is a certified Teacher in French/German Language & Literature, graduated from University of Toronto with an M.A. in German Literature. She completed her Undergraduate BA degree in French/German, Honors from University of Waterloo, and her
B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) in French/German Intermediate/Senior from the University of Toronto. Judith worked as a Teacher in Ontario and overseas in international schools. She is familiar with the
MYP, IGCSE, Ontario curriculum, and IB programs. Judith has worked as a teacher in schools for seventeen years and is experienced in teaching all language skills in French and German. She attended teacher’s workshops in Ottawa, Toronto, K-W and studied overseas at: Universitat Heidelberg, Germany : German Philosophy-Literature, Universitat Mannheim, Germany: German Language and Pedagogy, and took courses for teachers at L’ Universite
de Grenoble, L’Universite de Caen in France. Judith will prepare your individual Program, lesson plans, tests or quizzes and will encourage you in your learning process.
Danielle Houle
Danielle completed a Baccalaureate in Sociology from the University Laval in Quebec and a Masters Degree in Labour Relations from University Paris 7 in Paris. She has worked as a Bilingual Customer Service and Sales Representative for IBM for three an half years. Then, she completed a teaching certificate from the University of Ottawa. She is qualified to teach in Ontario’s French schools from JK to Grade 6 and has been teaching JK and Grade 1 for three years in a school located in Brampton called Carrefour des jeunes.
Stella Han
Stella is a certified teacher (pending) specialized
in primary and junior level. She received her B.A in
English Literature from Heilongjiang University,
China. Stella has a bachelor degree in Education and
a master’s degree in Education which she earned from
Brock University in St.Catharines, Ontario. Stella
has presented in a couple of international
educational conferences. In addition, she has been
working as a Research Assistant for the past two
years. She has extensive teaching experience at
elementary level and university level. She is fluent
in both Mandarin and English.
Reena
Prashar
Reena
graduated from York University in 2006 with an Honours
Bachelor of Arts in Geography. She completed her
Bachelor of Education at the University of Windsor.
Her additional qualification courses include teaching
Special Education and English as a Second Language.
She recently completed an inquiry report on the impact
of diversity in lesson plans on ESL students in
mainstream classrooms. Her inspiration to become a
teacher has been facilitated by her volunteer
experience for the past five years as a student
teacher, volunteer, and coach. Her time spent in the
classroom has been highly rewarding and has further
confirmed my desire to work in the teaching
profession. Reena is bilingual and can speak Hindi and
Punjabi.
Susan Stewart
Susan has been a French and English teacher since
the year 2000. She was born and raised in Ottawa
where she studied in French Immersion. Moreover, her
education includes a one year Master's Degree
studies and a Bachelor of Education from the
University of Toronto. She is currently employed
with the York District School Board and has taught
ESL in Korea and in Toronto. Susan will receive her
French Second Language Certification during this
academic season, hence planning to further her
studies in French education. Susan will engage
students with creative, energetic, and
differentiated instruction. Moreover, she will
provide resources to enhance and exemplify a
positive learning environment. Since she is
passionate about teaching and learning, Susan will
definitely pass this on to her students. She also
has experience in writing and editing as she has
published articles in a local newspaper and had
completed a 100 page thesis during her academic
career. Those who need assistance writing at the
elementary/junior, secondary, and
undergraduate/graduate levels can definitely request
her services. Lastly, Susan has assisted students in
political science and history subjects. She is happy
to support you with a variety of needs.
Curtis Templeton
Curtis is an Ontario certified secondary school
teacher for biology and general science, with a
Bachelor of Education from the University of
Toronto. He also holds a Bachelor of Science
(honours) from Queen's University. Curtis is
interested in all things science and is a
self-professed geek. He loves teaching so much
that he has been compelled to gain coaching or
instructor qualifications in his favourite
sports, including sailing. Curtis has worked
extensively with students of different ages,
from grade school to undergraduate, on science
material, especially biology. He hopes one day
to be a high school science department head (or
one of the Mythbusters). |
