| French has long been considered one of the most important languages in the world. Originally the language of choice for European aristocracy, the French language has become one of the most important diplomatic and international means of communication. As with many of the European languages, French expressions and influences are readily found throughout North American culture and also in the English language. A deeper understanding of the French language, therefore, not only allows for the advantages of a second language, but also a more thorough understanding of our North American and specifically our Canadian heritage. Toronto itself is home to more than 50,000 Francophones.
French tutors at TSTN will work through the four pillars of the language: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This allows for a simultaneously broad and deep understanding of the subject. In our line of work, while we strongly emphasize fundamental grammar and vocabulary, we believe that a multidisciplinary approach to understanding best suits the intricate complexities of the French language. Literature and culture will therefore be integral to the French tutoring sessions. While a core curriculum is developed and a structured approach is encouraged, a TSTN French tutor will also work with the student to custom tailor to the student's specific needs and requirements in order to guarantee a fulfilling learning experience.
