| The study of Latin is not only a pathway into thousands of years of literature, history and religion, but it is a revealing look at one of the building blocks of modern language, and particularly the language of education and professional writing. Latin phrases continue to exist in the law, banking, medicine, music, and the arts. Furthermore, phrases and rhetorical constructions, which are seemingly English, are often direct translations of Latin and can only be truly understood when the original language is taken into account.
